Headteacher’s Welcome

At Staverton Primary School, we believe education is about far more than results. It’s about belonging, curiosity, creativity and character. We are a small school with a big heart, serving our village and surrounding area with pride.

While many schools today are part of large multi-academy trusts, Staverton remains rooted in its own individuality. Our strength comes from our close-knit community: staff who go the extra mile, families who work in partnership, and children who are known, valued and celebrated as unique individuals.

Our Vision: A Life-Giving Tree

At the centre of our school is a striking mural of a tree filled with hundreds of birds, each one different and important. Inspired by Jesus’ Parable of the Mustard Seed, this tree is a powerful symbol of our vision — to be a life-giving tree for our children.

It reminds us daily that Staverton is a place where:

  • Every child belongs.
  • Every child can flourish.
  • Every child is encouraged to reach their potential.

Outstanding Early Years

We are especially proud that Ofsted has recognised our Early Years provision as Outstanding (December 2024). This reflects the exceptional start our youngest learners receive, built on:

  • Highly skilled and caring staff.
  • A nurturing environment that develops confidence and curiosity.
  • Creative opportunities that inspire a love of learning from the very beginning.

We know that strong foundations set children up for a lifetime of success, and at Staverton those foundations are built with care and high expectations.

A School Without Walls and Ceilings

We believe education should expand horizons. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and exciting — designed to prepare children for the world beyond school.

  • Beyond the classroom: Learning extends outdoors and into our community, with trips, events and experiences that bring lessons to life.
  • Inclusive and ambitious: Every child, whatever their needs, is supported to thrive.
  • Whole-child development: We nurture not just academic progress, but resilience, kindness, creativity and confidence.

A Love of Books

Staverton loves books! We believe reading is the greatest gift we can give our children. That’s why reading is woven into everything we do — from cosy reading spaces and story times to our popular Reading for Pleasure programme. Our goal is simple: that every child leaves Staverton as a confident, passionate, life-long reader.

Our Community

We are proud of the strong partnership between children, staff, governors, families and the wider community. Parents often comment on the warmth of our welcome and the way their children feel safe, known and celebrated here. You can read their words on our Testimonials page.

Every Day is an Open Day

We believe that the best way to understand what makes Staverton special is to experience it for yourself. Whether you are a prospective parent, a neighbour, or a visitor to the area, we warmly invite you to come and see our school in action.

At Staverton Primary School, every day is an open day.

Yours Sincerely,

Edward Powe

Head Teacher
