Computing
In Computing, we develop children’s understanding of information technology, computer science and digital literacy and its role in a global world.
What computing looks like at Staverton:
- Children will take part in a range of activities, covering IT (use of technology), computer science (understanding coding and programming), and digital literacy (how to behave online)
- Some activities will be ‘unplugged’, meaning they do not require use of any technology, and others will utilise technology, including iPads and the school Chromebooks
- We use Purple Mash scheme of work to support our delivery of the computing curriculum.
- As a whole school, we celebrate Safer Internet Day.
We are experts in computing because:
- We are able to use technology creatively, responsibly and confidently.
- We logically work through a given task efficiently, and reflect on how you could have approached the problem differently.
- We have a good awareness of how to stay safe online, and a knowledge of what to do if you feel unsafe when using the internet.
